Board of Directors

There were changes in the composition of the Board and Management team during the period under review at last AGM in October 2016. New board members were elected. They comprise the following

  1. Justice B.E. Agbatah

  2. Agu F. Nduka

As approved at the last AGM, Chief Aloysius C. Okafor was confirmed the Chairman of the Board while Barr (Mrs) Miriam E. Ezeike Obuna was confirmed the Management Director.

As a result of pressure of work Mr Ezeugwu requested for replacement of his membership of the Board as (ESUT) Management on 6th October, 2017 he introduced Chief Charles Ogbodo. Consequently, Chief Charles Ogbodo was appointed to replace him on the Board pending his confirmations by the shareholders at the AGM.

Chief Sir Aloy Chukwuemeka Okafor, the substantive Bursar, Enugu State University of Science and Technology was born on the 17th February 1956 as the last child of Mr. Okafor Agwu and Mrs. Mary Okafor of Amangene village, Ihuokpara in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.


Chief Chukwuemeka Okafor is an unquestionably brilliant man. After his primary education at St Mary’s Primary School Ihuokpara, he went to Union Secondary School Awkunanaw where he made Division one in WASC Examination in 1977. Thereafter, the young Chukwuemeka left for the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu and in 1982, he made another excellent result, obtaining upper credit in his HND programme. He later went to Imo State University where he bagged an MBA in Accountancy in 2002. Still restless for education achievements and desiring more academic laurels. Chukwuemeka again landed at the Institute of Ecumenical Education (now Godfrey Okoye University, Thinkers corner Enugu) and added B.Sc degree in Accountancy/Education to his already loaded cap of esteemed academic achievements in 2011. He has also included his M.Sc programme in Accountancy/Education on part time basis in September, 2016.


This great man of brilliance and ebullience has by dint of hard work and absolute trust in God obtained so many professional qualifications that include, Associate member ICAN-ACA – 1990, fellow of the Institute (ICAN) FCA – 2001 and Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACIT) – 2004, Associate Member (IPA) 2014 & (IFA) 2015.

He has held so many positions and has a wealth of experience as rich as the diamond mine of Kimberley. Such experience and positions held are: Audit Clerk, Internal Audit Headquarters, Enugu 1977 – 1978, Teacher grade 1 St. Patrick’s Secondary School, Emene 1980 – 1981, State Education Commission, Enugu Bursar 1986 – 1989, Onuoha Elenwoke and Co-Chartered Accountants Aba Branch; Audit Manager 1989-1990, IAS Courier services AGM- Finance and Admin 1990-1994, Anambra Motor Manufacturing co (ANAMMCO) HOD Internal Audit 1997-2007, Chukwuemeka Okafor and Co-Chartered Accountants Principal Partner 2007-2010 and Enugu State University of Science and Technology ESUT Bursar 2010 till date.


HIS ACHIEVEMENTS AT ESUT includes, Prompt Payment of workers salaries and other emoluments, increasing the IGR by more than 200% through prudent Financial Management. For example, the moot court built, for the Faculty of Law was built from IGR and other incomes apart from school fees. Others are restructuring of Accounting and Budgetary control system and prompt preparation of Annual Accounts. Full computerization of Bursary Department and Implementation of IPSAS is going on now. Providing conducive atmosphere for workers of Bursary Department as a motivation for quality output. Coordinating and encouraging the Faculty Accountants to ensure quality reporting.


Chief Chukwuemeka Okafor’s contribution to make the society better than he met it has received ovations at different quarters and has attracted awards and tittles to him. Some of such awards and tittles are, Distinguished Outstanding Services Award by Nigerian National Impact Initiative -2010. Legend/Life Member, St. Joseph Parish, Emene 2012, Distinguished Merit Award for Outstanding Leadership in Education Development in South East-Winner 2013 as best Bursar in South East Zone, Others Includes Distinguished Merit Award by Senior Staff Association of Nigerian University (SSANU ESUT) for prudence Financial Management and being Labour Friendly. Chief A.C Okafor is a supreme Officer Knight of St. Mulumba, Nigeria (KSM).

He is happily married to Lady Grace Ngozi Okafor (LSM) (IdehEgwu) and they are blessed with five children.

Chief (Sir) Aloysius Chukwuemeka Okafor is a man who has made great impact on many people.




Chief Ogbodo Charles was born on a beautiful Thursday morning on the 9th of November, 1960 to the family of Late Chief Michael Ogbodo and late Ezinne Grace Ogbodo of Umuoko-onovo Clan in Umuowo Kindred, Umueze Awkunanaw, Nkanu West Local Government Area, Enugu State.

Chief Charles Ogbodo was employed as clerical officer in Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH) which was later renamed Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) after the creation of Enugu State in 1991. On his employment he was posted to the treasury units of bursary department to maintain and keep both receipt and payment cash books. Interestingly, Chief Ogbodo with high level of integrity had worked meritoriously in different units of the bursary department of the department of the university, his dedication and hard work gained him an official commendation letter from the former pioneer university registrar, Prof. F.C Eze.

Chief Comrade Charles Ogbodo is Currently the head of finance unit of the bursary Department in the faculty of management science of Enugu State University of Science and Technology. Chief Ogbodo is an Accountant by profession. He is an Associate member of the institute of cost and management accountants. He is also a trade unionist, a senior comrade and a member of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, ESUT branch. Chief Charles Ogbodo held the position of the treasurer of this noble association for eight years 2008 to 2016.

Chief Ogbodo is a Christian by religion, a Catholic by Denomination. He is happily married to Queen Anthonia Adanna Ogbodo and the marriage is blessed by the grace of God with lovely children.


Following the civil service regulation, the Deputy Director Electrical/Electronic Engineering Engr. Nduka Aguh Felix on the 26th October 2018 retired from the Service of Imo River Basin Development Authority Owerri under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources Abuja.

Engr. Nduka Aguh Felix was born on the 26th 1958 in Umuabi in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He obtained B. ENG. (HONS) degree in electrical electronics engineering from Enugu State University of Science and Technology in 1999 and Diploma from Federal Polytechnic Bid Niger State in 1982.

Engineer Aguh Nduka joined the ARIBDA as senior technical officer electrical in 1988. He has served in different capacities including:

Rice mill manager – Lower Anambra Irrigation project Omor           1998-2006

Head of Operation/maintenance Division                                              2002-2004

SERVICOM Nodal Officer                                                                            2005-2008

Head of operational pumping station                                                     2008-2012

Head of Hydrology Division,

Engr. Nduka Aguh Felix has very high proficiency in engineering and banking Industries, hence was nominated Director in 2017 AGM of Urban Micro finance Bank Ltd.

Happily married to Diamond Lady Ngozi Aguh and blessed with five (5) children. Two (2) boys, three (3) girls. The two boys, one is a medical doctor, and one is a civil Engineer. The three (3) girls are all happily married. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.


Hon. Justice B.E Agbatah was born in Adani, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria on 15th day of August, 1948. He is the only surviving son of Ozo Agbatah Udeogaranya Oke and Mrs. Hannah Nwakacha Agbstah (nee Ayogu Royal Family of Adaba).

He attended St. Vincent’s Catholic School, Ogidi, Idemmili Local Government Area of Anambra State where he got his standard six Certificate in 1958. Agbatah attended Government Teacher Training College, Ihe, Awgu Local Government of Enugu State where he got his Teachers’ crude II Certificate in 1965. He attended the University of Nigeria where he got his LLB (Hons) in 1978 where company Law and corporate studies were part of the studies in the University of Nigeria. He attended the Nigeria Law school, Lagos where he got his BL in 1979. He did his compulsory NYSC in 1980 in Kano State where he won Governor’s award for being one of the outstanding corps members of that year.

As soon as Justice Agbatah came back from Kano, the then Government of Anambra State, his Excellency Jim Nwodo appointed him a member of board of Directors Hotel Presidential Ltd, Enugu 1981 Justice Agbatah contested and won the Executive chairman, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Council. He was there from 1981-1983.

Towards the end of 1983, Justice Agbatah took a leap of faith into the judiciary. He was appointed a senior Magistrate. He rose to the position of Chief Magistrate Grade I. At the inception of Enugu State in 1991, then the Military Governor of Enugu State appointed him the first Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in 1996, Agbatah took a short break from the Judiciary and for a second time he contested and won the chairmanship position of Uzo-Uwani Local Government. It was referred to as his second missionary journey.

In 1998, Justice Agbatah was appointed a judge of High Court of Enugu State by the then Head of State, General Sani Abacha. In that position he was opportune to the Administrative judge of Obollo Afor High Court, Enugu Ezike High Court, Awgu High Court and Enugu High Court, Justice Agbatah dim nay high profile cases: Governorship election cases in Lagos State and Osun State. Governor Chimaroke Nnamani and another were charged to his court. Although Justice Agbatah could not hear the last case in conclusion because he retired from service on 15th August, 2013.


Mr. M.C Ezeike (Esq) is a legal Practitioner and a Business man. He has been a member of the UMFB Board since 1998.

Having worked in various departments in the bank he has sound knowledge Banking. He has been an active member of the board and his contributions so far has helped the bank in so many ways.


Miriam began her professional career as solicitor to a number of Law firms before joining Urban MFB. She in a seasoned banker with over 15 years of banking experienced, six of which have been in management level. She joined Urban Microfinance Bank then Ogui-Urban Community Bank in 1998 and has functioned in various capacities before she was elevated to her current position.

She has an LLB (ABSU) BL (Nigerian Law School Abuja), post Graduate Diploma in Management (UNEC) and currently, she is running her M.Sc. in Business Administration (ESUT). She has attended various courses in aspects of Administrative and people management issues.

She is a chartered member of CIBN.
